Chelsea Hit by Injuries Ahead of Bournemouth Clash

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has provided an essential update on the squad ahead of their Premier League match against Bournemouth. As the Blues return to action after the international break, three key players will be unavailable for the fixture. Reece James, Malo Gusto, and Romeo Lavia have all been ruled out, adding to Chelsea’s challenges in their three-point quest.

Chelsea’s performance so far this season has been solid, with four points from their first three matches in the top flight. Depending on results elsewhere, a win at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium could lift them to fifth place in the Premier League standings. However, Maresca’s squad must navigate tomorrow’s game without some regulars.

In a pre-match press conference, Maresca confirmed the absence of Malo Gusto, who remains sidelined and unavailable for selection. On the other hand, Romeo Lavia is nearing a return but won’t be ready in time for the upcoming match. “Romeo looks very close [to returning], hopefully for the next game,” said Maresca. “Unfortunately, Reece needs more time,” indicating that captain Reece James will require further recovery before returning.

Despite the setbacks, there are positive signs for Chelsea. Wesley Fofana and Cole Palmer, who did not join their respective national teams for international duty, have been actively participating in training at Cobham. Their involvement in training sessions boosts the team as they work toward full fitness and potential inclusion in upcoming matches.

The upcoming match against Bournemouth is crucial for Chelsea as they look to climb up the Premier League table. Although key players are missing, the team will aim to build on their early-season momentum and deliver a strong performance on the south coast.
